Qinghai travel diary 1: “Buddha festival” to see the great Thangka!

Kumbum monastery temple (塔尔寺 in Chinese)in Qinghai province, the northwest of China, is the holy land of Tibetan Buddhism.t is the birthplace of zongkaba, founder of the gelug sect of Chinese lamaism (yellow sect) and one of the two famous temples of yellow sect.

Kumbum monastery temple is a very famous temple in Tibetan areas, but the most attractive one is the annual tanka or tanka, also known as “buddhist festival”.

Transport:

1. Self-drive: drive 25 kilometers from xining, about 20 minutes.

2. Bus: take xining to tarsi bus at the bus station, 10 RMB yuan for one person

Open time: 8:00am — 17:00pm

Ticket : 100 RMB for adult
